Nursery visits take place every second Thursday at the Friends of the Prom native plant nursery, situated in the Parks Victoria works yard at Tidal River.
Volunteers propagate plants and seedlings from seeds and cuttings collected at the Prom. The seedlings are used for various restoration and maintenance projects at the Prom, including the Prom Sanctuary project and the revitalisation of the Visitor Centre at Tidal River.
Please register your attendance in ParkConnect or phone Mary Walker on 0408 530 638.
NURSERY DATES FOR 2024
Are you interested in a day out in the remote and lovely open grasslands area of the northern Prom, identifying, counting and recording animal pellets? The pellet counts are part of a scientific research project to obtain data for estimating the population trends of native and feral grazing animals on the Yanakie Isthmus in the Prom National Park – all part of the effort to restore the Coastal Grassy Woodland habitat. Volunteers visit the sampling sites to identify, count, record and clear animal pellets.
We have completed counts for 2023 and will resume in autumn 2024 – dates to be advised.
Friends of the Prom acknowledges the Traditional Aboriginal Custodians of Country throughout Australia and pay our respects to them, their culture and their Elders, past, present and future.
